The Childress Vineyard is one of the largest wineries in North Carolina. It is located on the north side of Lexington at the intersection of I-285/US-52 and US-64. Travel to the winery by driving south from Winston-Salem on I-285 or drive southwest from Greensboro on I-85. Also the winery can be reached by driving north west from Charlotte on I-85.
The grounds are beautiful which provides a nice place to visit on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Relax and enjoy sipping some good wine.
Visitors can enjoy a fabulous lunch in the on site restaurant name “The Bistro” . The luncheon menu changes seasonally to take advantage of the best ingredients that the area has to offer at the time. Reservations are recommended as this is a very popular restaurant.
The tasting room is very efficient and the display is well stocked with Childress Wines. Each tasting consists of eight different wines of 1/2 ounce servings.
The Childress Vineyards are one of the few wineries that are open for business seven days a week. Operating hours are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Saturday and 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM on Sundays.
The winery grounds includes a three star hotel and a shopping area, all of which is within walking distance of the winery, restaurant and tasting room.
Many wineries have become a popular place for couples to have their weddings. Childress is no exception.
